Before you put your home on the market, there are some steps that you should take to get your home in its top saleable condition.

A Buyer will often judge a home as soon as they pull in the driveway.

  • Keep your landscaping and home exterior looking its best.
  • Keep the grass cut and weeds and dead plants pulled.
  • If it is the right time of year, plant colorful flowers.
  • If it is winter or fall, keep snow and leaves to a minimum.
  • Hang a wreath on your front door.
De-Personalize your home.

  • When a potential buyer is walking through your home, they want to be able to see themselves and their family living in your home. It is difficult for them to do this when your family photos and heirlooms are in your house.
  • Take down all family photos and heirlooms.
The first impression is the most important impression.

  • De-clutter! Donate or throw away things you do not need.
  • Do you have a lot of knick-knacks? Put them in boxes and store them.
  • Keep your home smelling clean and consider having a maid service clean your home before it goes on the market.
  • If you have oversized furniture that overpowers a room, consider putting it in storage.
  • The kitchen should be sparkling! The counters should be free of clutter and all surfaces should be shiny clean.
  • The inside of kitchen cabinets should be organized. Dishes and appliances should be stacked neatly and in order.
  • Bathrooms should be extremely clean and neat.
Minimize all evidence of pets in the home.
